When and why did you start with CrossFit?
When: I started at Hercules CrossFit Twente University around 2018, as pretty much the only employee among all the students 😅. Around 2022, I made the move to the grown-ups at CrossFit Twente.
Why: I wanted to be all-round fit. Fit enough to go hiking, skiing or cycling whenever I feel like it.
Over the years, though, the social side has become just as important. I almost always leave “the church” feeling better than when I walked in 😇. Great way to clear your head, forget about stress and suffer together for an hour.
What’s your proudest CrossFit moment? ❤️🔥
Probably finishing 2nd at the CrossFit Twente Cup 2025. I hadn’t done much CrossFit that year for personal reasons, so I entered at entry level. It was nice to find out I could still push myself when it mattered and, well… a podium always feels good 😊
What do you love most about our sport?
The combination of strength and endurance, and finding out how far you can push yourself. Especially with other “athletes” or the crowd, shouting at you to keep going when your body has already decided otherwise 😅
What’s the biggest thing CrossFit changed outside the gym?
Probably the social side of it. Turns out talking about CrossFit and Hyrox is almost as much fun as actually doing it 😅. It also led to signing up for a trail run in Austria, joining other workouts, and just doing more things outside the box; running, BBQs, festivals, birthdays… somehow it became more than just working out.🙏🏽

MAYRHOFEN ULTRAKS 🔥
On Saturday, September 5th, a group of CrossFit Twente members will be heading to Austria for the @mayrhofenultraks ! 🏔️🏃♂️
The Mayrhofen Ultraks is a trail running event in the Austrian Alps, where participants take on challenging routes through the mountains, with steep climbs, technical trails and incredible views.
Some of our members will take on the 30 km trail run, while others are going all in for the 50 km challenge. 🤯🙏🏼
They’ve been training hard for weeks to prepare for this adventure, and that’s no small feat! Running 30 or 50 km through the mountains takes serious dedication, strength and perseverance.

When and why did you start with CrossFit? 🏋🏼♀️
I started CrossFit about four years ago. My girlfriend, Shehr, was already training at CFT, and after watching her, I became curious about the sport. It looked like a style of training that would really suit me, so I decided to give it a try 🙏🏽
What’s your proudest CrossFit moment? 💫
One of the best things about CrossFit is that there are a lot of moments to be proud of. Whether it’s mastering a new skill or achieving a new PR, there is always something to celebrate. My proudest moment, however, was performing my very first pull-up during the Nationals Finals after failing a lot of attempts 🥹
What do you love most about our sport? ❤️🔥
I love the variety that CrossFit offers. There are so many different skills and aspects to improve, which means there’s always a new challenge to work towards📈
What’s the biggest thing CrossFit changed outside the gym? 🍀
CrossFit has had a significant impact on my life outside the gym. It has improved my energy levels, my posture, and introduced me to a lot of new people. Most importantly, it completely changed my mindset towards training. Before CrossFit, my motto was, “Better to be lazy than tired.” That couldn’t be further from the truth today ⚡️
